Sunset Ceremony

On Canada Day (July 1), and every Tuesday from July 9 to August 13, everyone is invited to come and see RCMP cadets in period dress perform traditional military movements that played an important part in Canada's history.

Enjoy marching band music, historic rifle and cannon exercises, dismounted cavalry drill and the lowering of the Canadian flag. Meet our mascot Safety Bear and chat with RCMP members in the iconic red serge before and after the ceremony.

The Sunset Ceremonies will take place this summer on July 1, 9, 16, 23, 30 and August 6 and 13 at the RCMP Academy, Depot Division, in Regina, Saskatchewan. Each ceremony starts promptly at 6:45 p.m. on the Parade Square and lasts approximately one hour.

Parking is available via the RCMP Heritage Centre entrance at 5907 Dewdney Avenue. Gates will open at 5:30 p.m. All bags will be searched on arrival.

On July 9, 16, 30 and August 6, come down early to watch an RCMP police dog demonstration. Demonstrations start at 5:50 p.m.

Bring your own lawn chairs or blankets as seating is not provided.

In the event of rain, the ceremony will be cancelled. Listen to your local radio stations or follow us on social media for announcements.
