Barricaded man apprehended without incident, Port au Choix, NL

A man was taken into custody and taken to Hospital following an armed and barricaded incident in Port au Choix, N.L.

On Tuesday, January 3, 2016, at approximately 2:30 p.m., RCMP received a complaint of a very agitated 42-year-old man alone in his home in Port au Choicx. Upon attendance, police began communicating with the man who had barricaded himself inside his home and indicated that he was armed.

The RCMP Emergency Response Team (ERT) was called in to assist with the situation.

Officers continued negotiations throughout the evening and night. At approximately 8:30 a.m. on January 4, 2016, the man was taken into custody by police without incident. He is now receiving medical attention.

At no time during the incident was the safety of the general public at risk.
