RCMP arrest Stephenville man in connection with armed robbery

A 35-year-old man has been arrested in connection with an armed robbery at a Stephenville gas station.

At approximately 11:45 p.m. on January 3, 2016, police responded to a report of an armed robbery at the Ultramar on Main Street in Stephenville.

A man, wearing a ski mask, entered the Ultramar and demanded money, cigarettes and beer and then fled on foot. There were no injuries as a result of the incident.

The Royal Newfoundland Constabulary's Police Dog Services was called to the scene and followed a track to a nearby residence. The man was located and apprehended a short time later.

The man is currently in custody and will be appearing in court later today.

The investigation is ongoing.
