Burin Peninsula RCMP arrests man for impaired driving during lunch hour

On August 25, 2019, at approximately 1:15 p.m., Burin Peninsula RCMP were on patrol in Lewin's Cove. Police were traveling behind a vehicle and suspected that the driver may be impaired.

A traffic stop was conducted. Open alcohol was observed inside the vehicle. The driver, a 42-year-old man from garnish, was arrested for impaired driving and brought back to the Detachment in Marystown, where he provided breath samples that were over the legal limit.

The man now faces charges of impaired driving and a charge under the Liquor Control Act for having open alcohol in the vehicle.

Police issued a driver's licence suspension and impounded the vehicle. The man was released from custody and is scheduled to appear in Grand Bank Provincial Court at a later date.
