News release

At 8:00 pm, on August 16, 2019, Dauphin RCMP received a report of a two vehicle collision at the intersection of Provincial Road 362 and Road 147 North – approximately 3 km north of Dauphin. The Dauphin Fire Department, local EMS, and the RCMP attended the scene.

The initial investigation has determined that a Ford F150 was travelling east on Road 147 when it went through the intersection at PR 362 and hit the side of a north bound Dodge Ram. Both vehicles sustained significant damage in the collision.

Two girls, ages 4 and 6, were extracted from the Dodge Ram by the Dauphin Fire Department and transported to Dauphin hospital in critical condition by EMS personnel. Both girls later succumbed to their injuries. Two other occupants of the Dodge Ram, a 30-year-old female from the RM of Dauphin and another adult female, were transported to Dauphin hospital with non life-threatening injuries.

The two occupants of the Ford F150, both 24-year-old males from Dauphin, sustained serious injuries and were transported to hospital. One male was later sent to hospital in Winnipeg in unstable condition with life-threatening injuries.

The investigation is ongoing to determine if alcohol was a factor in the collision.
