Iqaluit man charged after weekend stand off

Iqaluit RCMP have now charged 48 year old Moses Kilabuk of Iqaluit, Nunavut with several firearms related offences including unsafe storage of firearms. Kilabuk appeared before the Justice of the Peace and was released on a recognizance. His next scheduled court appearance is September 23, 2019 in Iqaluit.

Iqaluit RCMP also seized multiple firearms from the residence which were not properly secured and stored in a safe manner. "There remains to be a significant concern around the safe handling and storage of firearms in our communities across Nunavut. We are all responsible to ensure firearms and ammunition are secured and properly stored. Let's all do our part and help keep Nunavummiut safe"
