On October 7, 2019, at approximately 5:15 a.m., Mary's Harbour RCMP received a report of a fire at the Newfoundland and Labrador Hydro plant in Charlottetown.
When officers arrived on scene, firefighters with the Charlottetown Volunteer Fire Department had the blaze, which heavily damaged the inside of the structure, under control.
The cause of the fire remains under investigation and officers do not suspect it was intentionally set.
NL Hydro is expected to have a team of investigators on site later today.
RCMP NL thanks the Charlottetown Volunteer Fire Department for their quick work in controlling the blaze. Fuel was located in the area of the fire and the actions of the fire department ensured the NL Hydro neighbouring substation was not affected.
