Powerview RCMP arrest robbery suspect

On September 13, 2019, at approximately 5:15 pm, Powerview RCMP responded to a robbery at a business on Sagkeeng First Nation.

The suspect threatened the employee with a firearm, took several items and then fled in a vehicle. The employee called 911 and told the operator that the suspect said he was in possession of a firearm, gave a description of the suspect and vehicle, and the last known direction of travel.

Officers intercepted the vehicle while on route to the scene and conducted a high risk traffic stop. No firearms were found.

Kevin Franke, 52, of Winnipeg, was arrested and charged with Robbery with a Firearm, Use Firearm to Commit an Offence, Possession of Property Obtained by Crime and Possession of a Firearm While Prohibited. He was remanded in custody and appeared in court on September 15, 2019.

RCMP continue to investigate.
