RCMP Major Crime Unit seeks public’s assistance in investigation of fatal motor vehicle collision in Corner Brook

Late on October 4, 2019, RCMP NL received a request from the Department of Justice and Public Safety to assume investigation of a fatal motor vehicle collision that occurred on the evening of October 4, 2019, on Caribou Road in Corner Brook. RCMP Major Crime Unit West is conducting the investigation, with the assistance of RCMP Traffic Services. Mike King, Director of the provincial Serious Incident Response Team, will have civilian oversight of the RCMP investigation.

The vehicle involved in the collision was an older model four-door Hyundai SUV. It is believed that a number of motorists travelling on Main Street, Herald Avenue and Caribou Road encountered this vehicle in the time leading up to the collision, which occurred at approximately 9:40 p.m. Police are looking to speak with anyone who saw the vehicle around this time or witnessed the collision. In addition, anyone in the area who may have video surveillance or dash camera videos of this incident are asked to contact RCMP Major Crime Unit West at 709-637-4420.
