Update - Shamattawa RCMP investigating homicide

Shamattawa RCMP along with Major Crime Services have made an arrest in relation to the August 27 homicide of a 24-year-old male in the community.

RCMP have arrested and charged 19-year-old Dural Miles of Shamattawa with Manslaughter and three counts of Breach of Recognizance. He has been remanded into custody and will be appearing in Thompson Provincial court later this morning.

RCMP continue to investigate.


On August 27, 2019, at 6:15 am, Shamattawa RCMP were dispatched to the community nursing station on a report of a 24-year-old male who was brought in unresponsive and later pronounced deceased.

The RCMP is investigating this death as a homicide.

The Shamattawa RCMP continue to investigate along with assistance from RCMP Major Crime Services as well as Forensic Identification units from Winnipeg and Thompson.
