Tip from public leads to arrest of impaired driver by St Anthony RCMP

On September 6, 2019, at approximately 1:00 p.m., St Anthony RCMP were advised of a possible impaired driver in St. Anthony.

A short time later, police located the described vehicle and conducted a traffic stop. The driver, 68-year-old Edward Whiteway of Main Brook, was suspected to be impaired by alcohol and failed the roadside screening test.

He was arrested for impaired operation. Open alcohol was found within the vehicle. Whiteway provided breath samples back at the detachment that were more than twice the legal limit.

Whiteway is charged with impaired driving and he is set to appear in court on October 29, 2019, in St Anthony.
