Yukon RCMP aims to enhance police and community relationships
The Yukon RCMP assigned two officers to primarily serve the Kwalin Dün First Nation community in Whitehorse. The goal is to build a stronger relationship with the community and provide a more visible police presence to a community that has experienced some violent and drug-related crime. Working out of an office in the community's administrative building, the officers hope to build more trust with the community in order to work together to address their safety and security needs.
New RCMP call centre opens for Yukon
A new RCMP Operational Communication Centre in the Yukon is now able to handle calls from across the territory. The centre has new technology that makes it possible to take more calls. The Yukon government assisted by providing funds for the centre, as well as staffing and training in order to accommodate the territory's expanded 911 service.
