Whitbourne RCMP investigates fatal collision on TCH near Bellevue

Whitbourne RCMP is investigating a fatal motor vehicle collision that happened on the Trans-Canada Highway (TCH), east of the Bellevue turn-off, late yesterday afternoon.

At approximately 4:30 p.m., police received the report of a head-on collision involving a car and a SUV. Police, fire and ambulance attended the scene. Officers determined that the car, which was eastbound, crossed over to the westbound lane and collided with the oncoming SUV. The driver of the car, a 22-year-old man, was not wearing a seatbelt and died at the scene. The two occupants of the SUV were transported to the Dr. Wm. Newhook Community Health Care Centre for treatment of non-life-threatening injuries.

A Collision Reconstructionist with RCMP Traffic Services attended the scene and the Office of the Chief Medical Examiner is engaged.

The investigation is continuing.
