Woman arrested following impaired driving, drugs seized

A 36-year-old Kings County woman will appear in court following an impaired driving incident and drug seizure in Cardigan, PEI.

On October 13, 2021 at approximately 1 a.m., police stopped a vehicle on Route 4 in Cardigan as part of a routine checkstop. The vehicle was found to be unregistered and the female driver showed signs of impairment. The woman failed a roadside screening test and was arrested. During the arrest, police seized two separate forms of illegal drugs. The 36-year-old woman was transported to the Montague RCMP Detachment for further testing, which confirmed that her alcohol level exceeded the legal limit.

The woman was later released and is scheduled to appear in Georgetown Provincial Court at a later date. She is also subject to a 90-day driving prohibition, and her vehicle has been impounded for 30 days at her expense.
