Inuvik RCMP seize large amount of cash during drug investigation

On November 27th, 2023, the Inuvik RCMP seized a large amount of cash as part of a drug investigation. The Inuvik RCMP were conducting an investigation into drug trafficking in the Town of Inuvik. Officers identified a suspect and learned that the person might be trying to leave the community. Officers attended the airport and located the suspect who was taken into custody. During a search incidental to arrest, the officers discovered a large amount of cash.

A 17-year-old youth from Toronto was arrested and is facing charges relating to possession of property obtained by crime and obstructing a police officer. The youth was released after their guardian was contacted and arrangements were made for the youth to return to Toronto.

The investigation into this incident is ongoing.
