Saskatchewan RCMP’s La Ronge CRT seizes five firearms during stolen firearms investigation

On February 17, 2024 at approximately 9:50 p.m., La Ronge Crime Reduction Team (CRT) executed a search warrant at a residence in the La Ronge District as part of a stolen firearms investigation.

Officers located and seized a sawed-off shotgun, a handgun, an imitation handgun, a semi-automatic shotgun with ammunition, and a sawed-off rifle.

A photo of the seized items is attached. An adult male and a male youth on warrant were arrested at the scene.

44-year-old Paul Ratt and a male youth, both from the La Ronge District, have been charged with:

• one count, possession of restricted firearm/prohibited weapon with ammo without license/registration, Section 95(2), Criminal Code;
• two counts, possession of firearm/prohibited weapon when knowing possession unauthorized, Section 92(3), Criminal Code;
• two counts, unsafe storage of firearms, Section 86(2), Criminal Code; and
• one count, possession of firearm with tampered serial number, Section 108(2), Criminal Code.

Paul Ratt was also charged with three counts, weapons possession contrary to order and fail to surrender authorization, Section 117.01(3), Criminal Code. The male youth was additionally charged with two counts, weapons possession contrary to order and fail to surrender authorization, Section 117.01(3), Criminal Code.

We are unable to identify the male youth as per the Youth Criminal Justice Act.
Paul Ratt and the male youth appeared in La Ronge Provincial Court on February 19, 2024.
