Yellowknife GIS charge three people after drug trafficking investigation

The Yellowknife General Investigations Section has concluded a months long investigation into drug trafficking in the City of Yellowknife. Investigators began a targeted investigation into local dial-a-dope operations within Yellowknife. These type of operations involve drug traffickers providing cellular phone numbers to potential buyers and then arranging the sale of drugs at predetermined locations. Through this investigation, officers identified three individuals who were operating separate dial-a-dope phones. As a result of this investigation the following people have been charged:

  • Michael Payne (40) of Yellowknife, NT
    • Trafficking a controlled substance
    • Possession for the purpose of Trafficking a Controlled Substance
    • Possession of the Proceeds of Crime
  • Yusuf Hashi (60) of Yellowknife, NT
    • Trafficking a controlled substance
  • Adolphus Lennie (38) of Yellowknife, NT
    • Trafficking a controlled substance

Drug trafficking within the Northwest Territories remains an on-going threat to the safety of our communities. The Northwest Territories RCMP remain committed to reducing the supply of dangerous drugs in our communities and holding those who benefit from this predatory criminal activity accountable.
